Ban Ki-moon has failed

Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary General of the United Nations has been a complete disaster. During his tenure many important events occurred in the world such as the Arab Spring, the Libyan internal conflict resulting in the death of Muammar Gaddafi, the Syrian conflict and the Ivorian civil war among others and he failed the test. Instead of being an advocate of international diplomacy, the UN has been abused and used as a conduit of perpetrating aggression against sovereign nations. Clearly he has been an advocate of 'Humane behaviour' as I articulated in a previous post. The so-called right to intervene based on humanitarian grounds in internal conflicts of other countries using for and taking sides is a direct contravention to the UN Chapter 7 but like I said before by choosing sides, the other side's rights are completely set aside as if the UN will be standing on high moral ground. What human rights were observed when NATO bombed the neighbourhoods of Tripoli, killing civilians among them, scores of women and children. We all know they had one man in target, that is, the late Gaddafi because the NATO mission ended only after the assassination of Gaddafi. Right now there isn't peace and stability in Libya many months after Gaddafi's death. So I don't know what good on earth they were trying and able to achieve in Libya. He was clearly wrong when he said "Security Council resolution 1973, I believe, was strictly enforced within the limit, within the mandate, "and also "This military operation done by NATO forces was strictly within (resolution) 1973. That's advocating for imperialism in this new age.

Even the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), the UN's internal audit unit has stated that the UN under Ban's leadership is 'drifting into irrelevance". This clearly shows a man  who has failed to run the UN properly and as a result the organization is losing favor with sober countries around the world. In Ivory Coast the UN even engaged in an act of aggression against Gbagbo's government in the final hours leading to the fall of the latter's government. Let's hope China, Russia and allies on the UN Security Council will remain steadfast against the misuse of a useful institution like the UN by arrogant world powers.
