Last week Dr Gideon Gono, he Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe presented his first monetary policy statement of 2013. I haven't read the whole document in detail but I have seen bits and pieces in the press. I will have to find time and study the whole text in order to find out how Dr Gono and his new Monetary Policy Committee are formulating their monetary policies. What is the structure and what are they trying to achieve.
I bet it's going to be an interesting reading but from what i i have read around Dr Gono touched a lot on the banking sector's regulation, from it's ownership structure to its operational ethics. Maybe this is because the banking sector has been going through a rough patch recently therefore it is imperative to sort out the outstanding issues affecting the sector.I am interested in finding out how the MPC is viewing the economy's outlook and their prescriptions of controlling or managing the economy using the mechanisms and structural frameworks at their disposal.
I will surely blog on this issue when I read the whole text
