The day of the Solstice

Amidst the hullaboo of yesterday's supposedly being the end of the word, the day was important in other respects. It was the longest day in the Southern Hemisphere and the shortest in the Northern Hemisphere. Therefore for us in the Southern Hemisphere it was the summer solstice and it was the winter solstice in the other. Today it's the 22nd and the sun is still shining and it will for years to come.
