End the Syrian crisis now!

The situation in Syria seems getting worse by the day. It is almost a full-blown civil war. The conflict has reached Damascus as evidenced by the recent suicide bombing at a top security complex which killed 4 top officials of al-Assad, among them the Defense Minister Daoud Rajha and Syria's military Deputy Chief of Staff, Asef Shakat who was brother-in-law to Syrian President Basar al-Assad.. Amidst all this chaos, civilians have been most affected as they are in the middle of a fight in which the opposing sides are not keen in giving up any time soon. The rebels and terrorists are even using civilians as human shields in their quest to removing al-Assad.

The international community has remained deadlocked as to how best to resolve the crisis. What the international community must do is to allow the Syrians to resolve the crisis among themselves. Syria as a sovereign nation shouldn't be dictated as to how it should conduct it's affairs. Western and Arab countries are at fault in financing and arming the Syrian opposition because it is against international law. They have been trying for months to use the UN to effect regime change in Syria. But Russia and China have been at guard in protecting the impartiality of the world body. It is illegal to take sides in an internal conflict. The Russian position has been to allow the Syrians to negotiate peace among themselves.

How is that possible when the West is propping these armed rebels who have turned from terrorists into revolutionaries overnight? Diplomacy should be given a chance. Syria as a legitimate government has the right to use force to crush armed rebellion inside it's borders. The west want's to create another Libya but this is going to fail, because voices of reason in the world are now alert.

I don't know when the US is going to be tired of being engaged in foreign wars. The Pentagon has already indicated that it is ready for a war with Syria. The Western allies are even willing to by-pass the UN just like they did in Iraq, to disastrous consequences. When are they going to learn? The concern for the West isn't about civilians but it's about it's own geo-political concerns. Israel's interest in the matter is to weaken Syria because Syria is one of the only independent countries in a region of puppet governments. Israel is also aiming for Hezbollah because it believes it can only tackle the resistance movement if al-Assad is out of the picture.

In pursuit of democracy, how democratic i9s the West in declaring al-Assad as an illegitimate leader?  Look at what they did in Libya. After many months since Gadaffi's fall, 'real' democracy hasn't been effected. How was George Bush elected into office. Was it by the ballot box or was it vi aa Supreme Court decision? How democratic was that and who after that has continued to question the legitimacy of Bush as President during the rest of his term. It's hypocrisy through and through. Let's hope for the people of Syria's sake for the conflict in Syria end.
