Actor Morgan Freeman has fired a salvo. In an interview with NPR's 'Tell Me More" host Michael Martin that US President Barack Obama is not America's first black president but he's America's first mixed-race president. Though what he said is true, this is slight chill in the racial football, Obama finds himself in, in American politics. Considering Obama as a black president was 'appropriate' in the eyes of Washington power brokers in an attempt to solidifying how he's (Obama) election victory was actually a change people really wanted and also easing the racial tensions, minorities faced in today's America. Now they had their 'own' in the White House. Freeman's reasoning is interesting because since Obama is a mixed-race president, therefore he is in equal measures 'white' and 'black'. Hence considering him more black than white is some kind of spin to convince blacks that they have another black-man in the white house.
Setting aside these racial overtones, Obama is going to have a restless summer pondering on whether in less than half a year if he will still be occupying the powerful office of the President. Romney is going to be a tougher opponent to beat than Mccain was. The stacks are against him, hence his game has to be better than 08. With a lot of uncertainty hanging in the economy which will be a key factor on who wins the 2012 elections, everyday economic outlook is going to be quite important, otherwise the election is too close to call. Good luck Barack!
